Nunca he sido aficionado a la música pop, pero (aunque no justamente hoy)
este año hace 50 años en que se presentó al Festival de Eurovisión la canción
de Mocedades Eres tú. Ese año, 1973,
los votos le dieron la victoria a una canción francesa mediocre de la que, hoy
día, nadie se acuerda. Mientras que la canción de Mocedades se convirtió en un
hito hasta el día de hoy, sonando, año tras año, con igual entusiasmo y con
todo merecimiento.

Para mí que me dedico a escribir esto es un recordatorio de que el éxito de
los libros es un poco como el de las canciones. Eso me anima.

played on the radio in the USA all the time - it reached #9 on the Billboard
chart that year. Most people in the USA didn't understand the words, but it
didn't matter. The melody and the voices were just so beautiful. When I was a
little kid, I tried to sing along, imitating the sounds as best I ould for
someone who knew no Spanish. I love it still to this day.

My grandfather died in 1998, this was his favorite song. They played it at
his funeral, I was 9 years old that time. Listen to it now, and it still makes
me cry

such a powerful song that it even reached the Caribbean and we sang it back
then in Jamaica.
